Oh, the fundies are mad now. Publishing the news account of the indictment of Russell Hirner didn't go down well with "God's men" in the IFB, apparently. I'll let those readers who can stomach the furor go take a look. But the odd thing is, as much as these guys protest what I write, I find that they are reciting from the same script that the abusers themselves use:
  • The problem should not be denounced.
  • There is no real problem.
  • The person who claims there is a problem is lying (or is a liar).
  • The person who claims there is a problem is as bad as or worse than the culprit.
  • Everybody has these problems so it's wrong to point out our problem.

  • They get mad because they say I paint with too broad a brush, but then they spout the same words as the guilty among them, including the perpetrators and those who covered up for the perpetrators for years.
Additionally, their complete lack of dignity in trying to dig up dirt on me (see Marty Braemer's mind boggling announcement that he looked me up on Google "Just for fun", and catch his attempt to ridicule my study of martial arts; or the amazing Henry's Blog who tried to make headlines with the fact that I sleep on flannel sheets when I travel; or the numerous claims of me being ugly, old maid, etc.) has prompted more than one reader to express distaste for reading the FFF at all. But I recommend that you do, even if it is a bit appalling. It's always good to see what is parading around in the costume of being "God's man."

Fundamentalism is becoming a religion of works, and therefore it denounces repentance. Men who must repent are not good men, and a religion based on good works cannot allow that its leadership needs to repent. Therefore they can only excuse, accuse, and cover up. And because they don't repent, the gross perversions and gross sins will spread. Hardness of heart is always revealed exactly like this.

FORMER LONGVIEW CHRISTIAN SCHOOL PRINCIPAL INDICTED (Russell Hirner)
By: KENNETH DEAN, Staff Writer May 04, 2004

HENDERSON - A former Longview Christian school principal was indicted by Rusk County grand jurors Tuesday on two separate counts alleging sexual assault and indecency with a child.

Russell Thomas Hirner, 42, of Kilgore, was indicted on one first-degree felony count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one second-degree felony count of indecency with a child.

Hirner, who remains in the Rusk County Jail on bonds totaling $120,000, was arrested in March after a former female student of the Longview Baptist Temple's Baptist Academy told the academy of her abuse.

Death and Chocolate, now posted on my web site!

For ease of reference, I've posted the table of contents and six completed episodes of Death and Chocolate on my website. I hope to complete an episode a week until the story is finished. If you recognize any familiar faces in the story, don't tell the folks on the FFF!

    Episode Six
    Episode Five
    Episode Four
    Episode Three
    Episode Two
    Episode One

Periodically, I post an updated list on the FFF of who's been charged, who's been indicted, and who's been convicted of any of the numerous crimes committed withn the IFB movement by pastors and church staff members. For ease of reference, here is the list:

    • Russell Hirner has recently been added to the roll call. Charged with Child molestation.

    • Jim Vineyard, charged by a pastor with describing lewd sexual acts to a young lady (sexual harassment; not a crime because Vineyard "counseled" in private, although the Scripture clearly directs that private counseling is to be from older women to younger women). Vineyard has yet to deny the charge, but he did call the preacher who confonted him "buzzard puke". You can look up the incident in the Wicked Index. Look for the three part "Outed" series.

    • Andy Beith, principal of Liberty Baptist Academy in NW Indiana - sex with an 11 year old girl. Sentenced to 30 years, parole in 11.

    • Beith's father, also a graduate of HAC, was arrested His father was arrested a few years prior for soliciting an undercover officer in a local park. Made for interesting headlines. Imagine a Baptist pastor being arrested for such a thing. The media made the most of it, of course. [As they should have.]

    • Kerry was the name of the missionary who squabbled over the Spanish Bible and went to prison for molesting a little girl.

    • Calvin Stone, a HAC short timer sent to prison for molesting a little girl.

    • Overla, a HAC grad/pastor who pleaded guilty to molesting an 8 year old girl

    • Chester Mulligan, who is charged with molesting a 14 year old girl.

Not all of the following are HAC grads; they are all IFB-KJVO

    • Pastor Joe Combs, (found guilty, also defended by officials from Hyles-Andrson College)
    • Evangeline Combs (assault, not sexual)
    • Associate Pastor Timothy Lee Leonard, (charged but acquitted because
child-witnesses unable to testify; one child in the chuch had venereal disease, however)
    • Deacon Mark Foeller, (indicted but acquitted because witnesses refused to testify)
    • Deacon A.V. Ballenger, (found guilty; treated as a hero by Jack Hyles)
    • Youth Pastor Jeffrey Jerrell,
    • Administrator Joseph R. Strang, and
    • pastors Caleb Thompson (assault against a child, not sexual) ,
    • Joshua Thompson (assault against a child, not sexual).

All of those men have been charged with shameful crimes: an assortment of rape, child molestation, sodomy, and assault. And then, of course, there's Dave Hyles, elite adulterer and pornographer, also a product of that movement. He must have learned adultery at his father's knee, of course, because Jack was an old and experienced hand at it, and he also got off by bluster.

Dave spent several years at Pinellas Park Baptist Church AFTER having been expelled from Miller Road Baptist Church. He declared that he had repented and exercised some deception, though the church leadership failed to enforce Biblical discipline. They looked for words from Dave, made him write a letter of apology (a single letter, though he had engaged in affairs with over a dozen women). There was no longterm discipling, no accountability, no continuing effort to keep him, a man who had engaged in rampant sexual perversions that were no secret, under the care of church leadership. Needless to say, Dave strung along the leadership of PPBT for as long as they stayed gullible, which amounted to several years. They then caught him, expelled him, and he went to Berean Baptist Church, a predator, where he was admitted into membership without church discipline being enforced. After he was caught in sexual sin, he was expelled from the church.

    ++++

On another note. If you know of *any* IFB preacher who has EVER preached on the horrible wickedness of preachers (who claim to be bible believing) commiting adultery and/or having sex with children, and/or using porn, mail me a tape, and I will convert the sections to an MP3 and post it/them right next to the PREYING FROM THE PULPIT link on my blog. But I need more than a 30 second sound byte. I need a sermon that clearly condemns these things.

    ++++

On the FFF, a person named "Sandman" demands of me, "Since the IFB does not have any type of denominational administration such as the PCA or SBC, how is it that all IFB churches get lumped into a category?"

My answer: Because they are all equally unbiblical in their form of church government, and that form of "Baptist Pope" is precisely why the IFB denomination provides such a safe haven for predators. There is no accountability within the church to which the pastor is held, and there is no accountability between churches when members and former staff members transfer. Eldership in te Bible is a plurality of elders, and eldership boards communicated between churches.

    Offhand praise from alt.drwho.creative
Saw this on the newsgroup when I posted the latest chapter of Death and Chocolate today:

"If this was a Massi fic, I'd expect loads of characterization and a deep plot..." (from I. Inayat, writing about another story he was scanning)

That's always nice to see. I hope the fundies [with a wave to Marty Braemer] who are cyber stalking me are taking the time to read my Doctor Who fiction. Might make them a little less uneducated and less provincial.
